bathroom

this post is long overdue....... we are pleased to announce that our bathroom is officially completo! hooray!

you will notice that we kept the general layout the same to keep costs down. as the house is on a slab, the position of the waste had to be kept the same. we nutted out changing the layout but this configuration seemed to be the best for space without getting rid of the bath.

remember this:

and the process begins...... total time taken is approximately 3 months but was 90% complete after about 2.5 weeks

step 1: demolition- remove asbestos internal walls- we paid professionals to do it (seen too many cases of mesothelioma- it's not worth it) and jackhammer original tile floor.

step 2: find termite damage in studs from leaking shower (yay!)- fix stud work, build bath plinth, "rough in" plumbing and re-sheet walls with villaboard. new louvred window.

step 3: waterproofing (learnt that lesson) and pour new concrete floor.

step 4: tiling!
(tiler using spacers for rectified tiles)

it's like christmas!

look at what i received in the post today when i got home from work! a beautiful box of goodies from aesop.com. never mind that i ordered the products myself for myself. such a beautiful online shop and delivered in 2 days! plus i got a bunch of beautiful samples- i thoroughly recommend!!!

i got the resurrection hand wash and hand balm set and the rose body cleanser....... all for the new bathroom. and remember no aesop product contains colourants, artificial fragrances, mineral oils, silicones, animal derivatives or pearlising agents (whatever that is!). and they don't test on animals! hooray!
