not sure who decided it was a good idea to renovate whilst pregnant..... probably me but i certainly don't recommend it. at least don't live in the place whilst doing it. why did i think it would be ok to sleep with the red backs in the garage in the middle of winter...... that was never going to work. the major thing i really underestimated was the dust.....gyprock dust, orange terracotta dust from the tiles, dust from grinding the slab, dust from demolishing walls...... dust was miraculously settling on every horizontal (and vertical! (how is that even possible?!)) surface despite my daily cleaning efforts. i didn't survive long..... don't think it was even a week. didn't realise i was such a princess. luckily for us we had some super nice friends around the corner who adopted us; ran me hot baths, showered us with tasty homemade treats and even helped with the construction. gem and mike you are our saviours.
so, the cabinets are in, appliances installed, lights fitted, kitchen boxes are being unpacked and neglected dusty furniture is making it's way back into the hacienda. 3 months of cooking in the laundry and living out of our bedroom are over!
i underestimated the need to have a comfy place to relax and socialise when you come home from work that's not the bedroom floor. i'm sorry modular lounge with super comfy chaise you have been under appreciated in the past.
so, this is where we leave the hacienda for 2 weeks in france to recover, recuperate and regroup!
